13th December 2007Improvement to Biotrin HHV 6 IgG EIA product

As part of our continuous improvement service to our customers, we have made the following enhancements to the HHV 6 IgG Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA).

  • Inclusion of LSC – Lot Specific Constant. This number will be a batch specific number and it will be clearly stated inside the kit box lid. We have added an LSC to this product to minimise any lot to lot variation of results.

  • Extension of time to read EIA plate after addition of stop solution from immediately to 30 minutes. This time has been increased to make the assay a more flexible and convenient option for laboratories.

The Biotrin HHV 6 IgG EIA is a 96 well Enzyme Immunoassay for the detection of Human Herpes Virus 6 IgG antibodies in human sera samples.  The assay is a convenient choice for both low and large volume testing laboratories due to its 96 well break apart wells format.

The Biotrin HHV 6 IgG EIA provides laboratories with a highly sensitive and specific assay for the detection of HHV 6 virus in primary Roseola infections and secondary virus reactivations/reinfections.

HHV 6 is the causative agent the childhood illness Roseola or Exanthem Subitum, a rash like infection that typically affects all children by the time they reach two years of age. Learn more about Roseola.

After the primary infection, the HHV 6 virus establishes a dormant latent infection in the individual for life. Re-activation/Re-infection of the HHV 6 virus can occur and cause complications if the individual becomes immuno-compromised.

Recent scientific research has also linked HHV 6 to a range of diseases including: Multiple Sclerosis, HIV & AIDS, Epilepsy, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Cancer. Research is ongoing in these areas to learn more about the exact role HHV 6 plays.

This improved version of HHV 6 IgG EIA is available to purchase from January 2007
