The Medix Biochemica Product range includes POC kits for

actim^TM Influenza A/B  - dipstick combo test suitable for nasal aspirates, nasal washes or swabs. Fast results in 15 minutes. Can be used bedside, in a clinician’s office, or laboratory setting. 

actim^TM Fecal Occult Blood test to screen for Colorectal Cancer - immunological test with no dietary restrictions required.  More sensitive & specific than traditional guaiac tests.  Suitable for use in clinician’s office or laboratory.       

actim^TM Pre Rupture of Membrane PROM  - faster & more convenient than traditional methods eg pH, Ferning.  No speculum sample collection required – simply collect a vaginal swab, add to extraction solution and then read result in 5 minutes.   Detects presence of IGFBP-1 insulin like growth factor binding protein -1.   Suitable for use in emergency room, clinician office or laboratory.

actim^TM Pre-Term Delivery Test PARTUS  - an important parameter to determine the risk of preterm delivery in pregnant women by measuring phlGFBP-1 – phosphorylated insulin like growth factor binding protein -1.  Results in less than 10 minutes. A negative test indicates that imminent delivery or delivery within two weeks is highly unlikely. Suitable for use in emergency room, clinician office or laboratory.

actim^TM Pancreatitis – urinary test to detect and rule out ‘Acute Pancreatitis’ – scientific studies have also demonstrated its ability to detect ‘severe’ pancreatitis. High negative predictor value of 99% with greater sensitivity and specificity than the traditional tests (lipase and amylase).  Suitable for Emergency Room, Doctor’s office or laboratory environment.

actim^TM CRP & CRP Sensitive - useful tests to determine if an infection is viral or bacterial, thus avoiding unnecessary treatment of viral infections with antibiotics. Useful as a screening tool in schools, nursing homes, workplaces, military camps or other sites with limited laboratory facilities.
