The HHV-8 IgG IFA assay is an in vitro immunological assay for the detection of anti-human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) specific IgG antibodies in human serum and plasma samples.
ASSAY PRINCIPLE The Biotrin HHV-8 IFA system utilises the indirect immunofluorescent method of antibody detection and titre determination, providing both qualitative and quantitative results to the laboratory.
Patient samples are incubated with HHV-8 antigen, which has been stabilised on a glass slide. If HHV-8 IgG antibodies are present in the sample, a stable complex is formed between the antibody and the antigen on the slide.
Bound HHV-8 IgG antibody is then reacted with a fluorescein conjugated goat anti-human IgG and this complex is visualised with the aid of a fluorescence microscope.
Positive reactions are denoted by bright green fluorescence of infected cells. Uninfected cells are stained red due to the use of a counter stain Rapid & easy to use assay
High levels of cells in each well
Good representation of HHV-6 positive and negative cells in each well
Positive and Negative controls included
