Intended use:
The Biotrin RSV Solo is a rapid test for the qualitative detection of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in human respiratory samples.
Samples types:
Human Nasopharyngeal Aspirates (NPA), Nasal swabs and Throat swabs
Assay principle:
After collection and treatment in extraction buffer the sample is added to the sample well of the collection device. Figure 1 | | | | Figure 1 – Applying the sample | | | | The sample flows through the device and if RSV antigens are present in the sample, it will bind to the labelled antibody-dye conjugate in the device and form an Antibody-Antigen complex. The complex will bind to the polyclonal Antibody in the test window and a Rose-Pink line will appear indicating that the sample is positive for RSV. Figure 2 | | | | Figure 2 –An RSV positive reaction | | | If the sample is RSV negative, no Rose-Pink line will appear in the test window.
A control window is included on the Biotrin RSV Solo device. As the sample flows through the device, any unbound conjugate will bind to the reagent in the Control window. This binding produces a Rose-Pink line in the Control window and gives the laboratory confidence that the device and reagents have worked correctly Biotrin RSV Solo
